08 Oct 20 Worcation 2020 online – a look back
This year’s international youth exchange Worcation, which has been taking place in the European City of Görlitz-Zgorzelec for 13 years with participation of young people from many European countries, was transferred to the online world and took place from 25 July to 7 August.
The programme included an online guided tour on the grounds of the Memorial Site Stalag VIII A, a Spoken Word Online Workshop, a lecture on “Hate Speech”, an online city game and much more. Moreover, the participants were provided with a communication platform where they could communicate and exchange ideas.
Almost 70 people registered for various events that took place during the online edition of Worcation, about 10 of them actively participated in almost all activities.
Herewith we present a short filmic review of the meeting:
We are very happy that we were able to carry out the virtual youth exchange, despite our doubts about the possibility and the way in which it was being implemented. Although we have learnt a lot from this experience, we believe that the online formats cannot replace real encounters.
We are currently planning the next Worcation that will take place from 31 July to 14 August 2021. The main theme of Worcation 2021 will be Diversity.
